For Good Performance Troupes for all ages!
The For Good Performance Troupe offers an opportunity for persons with Down syndrome to participate in community musical theater and performance activities, while also offering members of the broader community the opportunity to attend the performances and celebrate with us. The For Good Performance Troupe cultivates speech skills, independence, empowerment, and cognitive development. The instruction and coaching offer an unmatched experience for the participants. Our Troupes have gained tremendous experience with the stage and their confidence and comfort in performing is inspiring.

Buddy Walk - Our Annual Flagship Event
Established in 1995 by the National Down Syndrome Society to promote acceptance and inclusion of people with Down syndrome, Buddy Walks are held across the United States. Our Buddy Walk is our largest event and biggest fundraiser of the year, with 100 volunteers and over 400 generous donors and walkers! The event brings us together for a common cause and is a fun day to be sure, but it's also a very important one. Many families attending the Buddy Walk are first timers who are still figuring out what the diagnosis means for their loved one. Seeing the hopeful possibilities and learning from other families is an uplifting experience that brings us back year after year. Stay Tuned for our 2024 date announcement!

YES21! is a program for our young adults. Any individual in our CRDSS family who is age 18 and older is welcome to be a part. YES21! is about having fun and socializing. We’ve gone to the movies, held barbecues, and even went horseback riding! The chaperoned events are structured to create lots of fun and wonderful opportunities for engagement. The full name is ‘Young Elite Society’ and the ‘21’ represents both the transition into adulthood and the Down syndrome chromosome. But we like calling ourselves YES21!

CRDSS has a great relationship with the Spikes Organizations and Medlar Field at Lubrano Park in State College. From time to time we have purchased a block of tickets for the summer season games and offered these tickets to our members at no cost. In 2022 we organized a ‘CRDSS Community Night’ when we all gathered together for a game with fireworks display. Medlar Field has also hosted the Buddy Walk multiple times too! Stay tuned for future offerings.
3-21 Annual Celebrations
Declared by the United Nations in 2011, World Down Syndrome Day is held annually on March 21st (3/21). The date represents the triplicate copy of the 21st chromosome, which all people who have Down syndrome possess. CRDSS loves to celebrate the day each year. Our dance was held virtually in '20 & '21 but we were together again on March 21, 2023 and celebrated with joy! Enjoy our photos & video below.

Warm bright days deliver the perfect time for our community to join together to Celebrate Summer! The summers of 2022 and 2023 had us gather at Spring Creek Park in State College for an afternoon of fun for Summer Carnival! The event has brought our community circus arts performances, face painting, photo booths, dance & karaoke activities, games & crafts and more.
In the winter, the CRDSS families love to come together & celebrate the holiday season with food, music, craft making and more! Whether you are from Central Pennsylvania or surrounding areas, we’d love to celebrate with you! Plans in the works to be 'Together Again' on December 9 2023 -- Stay tuned for details & registration.
