Katie FelizSocial Enterprise Operations and Development Supervisor
Good Day Café and Scraps & Skeins, Operated by Strawberry Fields Inc Currently serving as Vice President and serves on the Community Outreach Committee Our daughter was born with Down Syndrome in 2016 and the importance of having a support network quickly became apparent. We attended our first Centre Region Buddy Walk that year and then in 2018 I joined the board. I believe firmly that I can’t know what I don’t know about Down syndrome and its associated challenges, but that in community we can help one another to reduce our blind spots. Our daughter has underactive thyroid, celiac disease, and type 1 diabetes and knowing we are not alone is so important. In March of 2022, I took a job with Strawberry Fields Incorporated, a local human services organization that provides support services to individuals with disabilities and mental health diagnoses. I am privileged to oversee two social enterprises that hire individuals with varied disabilities – the Good Day Café coffee shop, and Scraps & Skeins, a creative reuse craft supply store.
